NGOs’ basic mandate and beginning ideology make them deliberate to address the political ramifications of their compassionate activities. Many NGOs were either formerly formed to aid war fatalities, or have since had considerable experience in violent context. NGOs which have been energetic in conflict settings tend to contribute to two attitudes. First, many have wisdom of purity concerning their motives and importance as regards their activities. The need to relieve anguish seemed straightforward, immediate and straight. Second, many accept a stance of severe political impartiality. In part supporting objectivity makes NGOs more probable to grant access to victims. But in part such a neutral stance reflects a view of political affairs as tainted or grimy, and a postulation that NGOs could tackle social or cultural issues without stooping to political affairs.
